My Actors, My Play

img_3821

What a fantastic way this day has turned
When a secret law kindly confirmed
The truth that binds our limits
The cosmos and all possessions within it
The fleeting encounters and meeting of people
All told within a tale.
It begins with a yarn
To slumber and yawn
Then wide awake the world behold
And that’s the way the story goes
Or so its told.
The waking world is real and not the other.
Oh really? I wonder my mother,
That when you told me the tale,
Then why did my mind wander asunder?
Following the trail
I see worlds and places form
All born within my conception
Moulded and formed by my perception
Whether good or bad, happy or sad
All the worlds a stage we played
And yet I am more than just an actor
I stand promoted as director
Setting the scene and playing the part
Beheld as truth we perfect our art
Applauding audiences cheering at each showing
Within my heart a different type of knowing
That somehow this truth has a different story
Not fame or celebrity
An altogether different type of glory
Standing silently observing the pictures
The curtain draws and darkness forms
Suddenly a gentle light arises and dawns
Waxing and waning it flickers
Is this my face of which I was born?

Dreams

P1010811

I woke upon my sleep last night
Just startled by a wondrous fright
It seems that when we wake at night
The things we see within our sight
Are not just patterns and pretty faces
Nor walls that fill our empty spaces
They surely hold a wisdom too
But manifested as such,
Just to a few.

Just to Be

Cornwall beach

Awaken with the sun – rise.

Glimpse ocean’s expanse within my eyes.

Swaying trees upon a gentle ocean breeze.

Birds flight, alight – flight.

Shadows shimmer, waters glow – a light.

Jewelled waters, orange halo, heaven’s hello.

Winds drift, along those cliffs where my steps entwine.

Secret paths along sand dunes wind.

Scents drift upon gentle ocean mist.

Listen as the ocean rocks, hang on every twist.

Awaken with the sun – rise.

Glimpse ocean’s expanse within my eyes.

Roaring waves and rolling surf.

Stars form above the earth.

Midnight moon, embrace me home.

Make that Change

I’m gonna make a change
For once in my life
It’s gonna feel real good
Gonna make a difference
Gonna make it right

As I, turn up the collar on
My favorite winter coat
This wind is blowing my mind
I see the kids in the streets
With not enough to eat
Who am I to be blind?
Pretending not to see their needs

A summer’s disregard, a broken bottle top
And one man’s soul ( and a one man’s soul)
They follow each other on the wind ya’ know
‘Cause they got nowhere to go
That’s why I want you to know

I’m starting with the man in the mirror
I’m asking him to change his ways
And no message could have been any clearer
If you want to make the world a better place
Take a look at yourself, and then make a change

I’ve been a victim of a selfish kind of love
It’s time that I realize
That there are some with no home, not a nickel to loan
Could it be really mean, pretending that they’re not alone?

A willow deeply scarred, somebody’s broken heart
And a washed-out dream
They follow the pattern of the wind ya’ see
‘Cause they got no place to be
That’s why I’m starting with me

I’m starting with the man in the mirror
I’m asking him to change his ways
And no message could have been any clearer
If you want to make the world a better place
Take a look at yourself, and then make a change

I’m starting with the man in the mirror
I’m asking him to change his ways
And no message could have been any clearer
If you want to make the world a better place
Take a look at yourself and then make that
Change!

Crossroads

Crossroads

At this stage I’m here in life,
I’m wondering; “will it all be strife?”
I see beyond, I see before,
Much of which I try to ignore.

Am I right, are they wrong,
Or shall I just join the throng?
If they’re right and I’m wrong,
Will I just be led along?

At this crossroads that stands before me,
I’m wondering which way it’ll draw me.
I look for guidance at each turning,
Hoping & praying it won’t leave me burning.

A tragic past, a new beginning.
The pattern of life; always almost winning.
Yet cast aside those thoughts of failure
I think it’s time for some closure.
